DFW's speech is something I watch regularly. If you have a few spare months this summer - dig into Infinite Jest. It's life-changing (and quite humbling for anyone who writes)
Thank you @Kris! I feel like I've been living under a rock - my high school English teacher will be hearing from me... I did a quick google on Infinite Jest and it was one of Time Magazine's Top 100 English-language novels from 1925 - 2005. I also read about his death, a tragedy and makes his speech even more poignant.
