Six months ago, I started working with a business coach. We started working together when I made a big professional transition. I left my job at Call of Duty to search for a small business in North Carolina to buy and operate.
My coach is Josh Chernoff. Josh was recommended to me by my friend Ted, who appreciated Joshās coaching style, professional background and pricing. Josh has led an impressive consulting career with several partner roles, including partner at Bain.
I have worked with Josh for 6 months. The work has been impactful. Iāve noticed I am making decisions more confidently ā I tend to overanalyze so this was a focus for me. Our work together has also given me more structure in how I prepare to deliver messaging during difficult conversations. Josh also gives me āhomework.ā This is a valuable step in our coaching relationship as I like to have very tactical steps for improvement.
If you are considering a coach, check out this helpful article Josh wrote about how to pick a coach. Iām happy to offline with anyone interested to learn more about my experience and/or make an introduction.
Without further adoā¦.

1. Travel Necessities ā (A) Multi-Plug Adapter (B) Mosquito Suction Tool (C) eSIM Card
A. Multi-Plug Adapter: A solid multi-plug adapter with multiple USB ports is a must. You can plug in all your devices, and if you have a USB-C Mac, you can skip the laptop charger entirely.
B. Mosquito stuff: Letās face it, no one likes mosquitoes (maybe spiders?). When they bite you, this Removal Suction Tool is an incredible help for relieving itching, pain, and swelling. And it works not only for mosquitoes but for any bug.
C. eSIM Card: The old times of getting a local SIM card at the destination airport, potentially ending up losing your original SIM, and being scammed just to realize that there were way better options are over. With eSIMs, like Airalo or Nomad, you get cheaper plans, more data, and no physical SIM swaps. So much easier!
Iāll stop before I overwhelm you. If you need more travel hacks, feel free to askāhappy to help!
2. Oat Cookie Recipe
A healthy 3 ingredients oat cookies recipe that takes 10 mins to prepare (and 20 to bake). These cookies are a great alternative when hunger strikes during the day. You can pack them, use them as a post-workout snack, have them in the afternoon, give them to your kids⦠plenty of options here!
Ingredients:
- 3 medium-sized ripe bananas
- 150g oats (rolled or porridge)
- 75g peanut butter (crunchy and without additives if possible)
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients, roll the mixture into 8 balls, and place them flattened on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Preheat your oven to 180°C, bake for 20 minutes, and voilà !
3. Leave Your Phone Out of the Bedroom
The biggest game-changer for me in terms of well-being has been leaving my phone out of the bedroom before bedtime. No scrolling before bed, no checking it first thing in the morning. Itās a simple, foolproof techniqueāno learning curve needed, and the effect is immediate. Trust me!
As for my vice, Iām a coffee addict. Iāve managed to lower my consumption to 3-4 cups a day, and I enjoy every single one. I have a roastery subscription that sends different beans monthly (letting me choose them, yay!), which allows me to pretend Iām super interesting while really just drinking espresso.
4. Sage Barista Express Coffee Machine
If you're into coffee (by now, I hope you are), this oneās for you. A few years ago, my partner got me a Sage Barista Express coffee machine for my birthday, and itās been a total blessing. A solid 100% better life. Itās super easy to use (and clean), grinds beans to your exact taste, and makes true espressoāsometimes even better than what you'd get at your favorite coffee shop.
Note ā I asked Xavi for his favorite coffee shop in the world: āThe Sandy ShackĀ in Uluwatu. Itās a small sandwich spot, but their coffee bean selection is next level.ā
5. Danish Endurance Socks
Not the sexiest recommendation, but if youāre into running, walking, traveling or whatever meaning being active, Danish Endurance socks are a game-changer. Light, comfy, quick-drying, odor-repellent, and low-key. I own 10 pairs, and if I pack anything else when traveling, itās just so my partner doesnāt think I never change them.
6. Make Time
As someone who loves optimizing processes and improving productivity,Ā this bookĀ has it all. Itās not about stuffing more into your day or obsessing over your to-do list. Instead, itās about making better use of your time. Think of it as a refreshing take on productivity that values quality over quantity. Plus, itāsĀ beautifully written and designed, which helps humanizing a pretty boring topic like productivity.

P.S. from Rambull ā Stanley has had its moment. Like me, you may have noticed that many have ditched their Stanley water mugs for the Owala water bottles. My wife and our 3-year-old both have one and seem to love them. It's slightly cheaper than Stanley at $29 as opposed to $35.
Uuuuuh seems like a nice guy! :D
Thanks a lot Rob, my pleasure!
