Hockey. So hot right now.
And its not just because I live an hour away from the (future) Stanley Cup Champions, the Carolina Hurricanes. There is Heated Rivalry on Netflix and Off Campus on Prime. My virgin eyes will never be the same.
No one has benefitted more from the Carolina Panthers recent decline than the Hurricanes. Everyone in North Carolina is now a hockey fan. I didn’t think my brothers-in-law knew what hockey was and now Will and Grainger are the biggest puck bunnies in town.
I’ve been a hockey guy for quite some time. However, my knowledge and passion for the sport was recently questioned. I had to pull out photo evidence of my coaching stint for the 2019 Duke Fuqua hockey squad.
Wow, the Barn was bumping that night.
Anyways…Vegas…it’s time to warm up the bus.
Without further ado…
Why TJ?
I am a big fan of Onward Reserve. TJ has created an excellent brand, with wide recognition. It is also one of the few, if only, brands that makes clothing that seems to fit me well. I’m grateful for the ShopMy partnership too as they’ve sent me a few items that I gladly (and authentically) like to highlight. Its impressive to see how TJ has expanded his store footprint throughout the south, with a killer DTC business and 14 brick and mortar locations and counting.

TJ’s 6 Recommendations
Written in TJ’s own words…
1. Paper Calendar - At A Glance brand
I have used a paper calendar my whole life and I enjoy being slightly disconnected in this way. I don’t accidentally commit to things on the spot because I need to check and get back to people. And nobody at the office can see it but me and make assumptions about my availability.
2. Mr Anonymous | Robert Woodruff
All time favorite book about the man who built Coca-Cola. Is out of print but can usually find one on eBay.
3. Onward Reserve Five Pocket Pants
I wear them everyday - you won’t be disappointed
4. Dylan Marlowe
We have supported Dylan since before his first record deal. If you like Country music at all - check him out!
5. Old Edwards Inn; Highlands, NC
Great spot and soon to be down the street neighbors to our newest store!
6. Seaside, FL
My family and I have loved spending time at Seaside. Our girls don’t get to ride bikes in Atlanta often so it’s a great place to experience more of a small town vibe from time to time.

P.S. from Rambull — For my mom’s that need a last second gift idea for Father’s Day, I got you:
Keychain Tool ($10) - Love having this on my key chain.
London Falling ($25) - New Patrick Radden Keefe book. Loved Empire of Pain and Say Nothing. Published a few weeks ago.
Tonge & Groove Pliers ($20) - the OG tool for Dad and the client that butters my bread.
Tifosi Sunglasses ($29) - maybe the best sunglasses I’ve ever had; definitely best price point.
Scout Polo ($105) - My go to summer shirt for work and golf.
Pocket ($120) - disclaimer my sister just got this for my birthday. It helps capture notes from in person conversations and calls. I’m bullish.
Ok fine, just let him play golf and/or take a uninterrupted nap. Or even better, if you are an aspiring vegan, just this once, cook a steak for your guy (hint hint, nudge nudge).
