A friend recently asked me why I write Rambull. The process takes several hours each week to curate and edit. I spend way more money purchasing recommended products than I receive back in affilate revenue.
While, I do love the ātreasure huntā aspect of finding unique and interesting recommendations each week, the main reason is the people profiled. At this point, I usally donāt know the person (this week being an outlier). I love to expand my circle and to learn a little bit more about their work, hobbies, and motivations.
Iāve started to follow-up with every profiled person to ask if there are ways I can connect them further. It might be something as simple as helping with a recommendation for a specific need or connecting them with someone who has subject matter expertise. Finding a mutually beneficial connection between the person profiled and someone in my network is the sweet spot for me.
As part of that effort, Iām including a āMonthly Bulletinā in todayās post. My thought is I want to help further connections and highlight updates from people profiled in the past. Please let me know if you have feedback or ways that this might be more helpful and interesting.
Without further adoā¦.
Why Mark?
This profile is a pleasure to highlight. Mark was one of my first LA friends and a former co-worker at Call of Duty. He is an incredible creative talent, hooper, and dad. Basketball and sport culture is in his DNA, hence a long stint working at Adidas on projects with Derrick Rose, James Harden, and Damian Lillard. He is also funny and laid back, things I appreciated in our more stressful work moments with tight deadlines.
Self-Description
Dad with a mid-range jumper, caught in the never-ending pursuit for inspiration, all while trying to optimize my mind and body by 40.
Markās 6 Recommendations
Written in his own wordsā¦
1. Muay Thai
Who knew that kicking something, and getting kicked, would feel so good? Generally, an outlet to relieve stress or tension is a great idea. For me, I've been training Muay Thai (the art of 8 limbs) for the last year. The sport put me in a great position to test myself and simply learn something new. What's even better is that age isn't a factor, anyone, at any age, can give it a shot. Once you get the bug, I guarantee you'll be locked in.
2. Oura Ring ($350)
I've been rocking an Oura Ring to track my sleep quality, activity and stress for the last couple of years. It has been such a great tool for me to hold myself accountable for putting my health first. Amazing for anyone that wants to add a little measurement and certainty to their day to day.
3. Perfect Days
If anyone is looking for guidance or inspiration to find the pleasantries through the simple things in life, Perfect Days is it. A thought-provoking film about a toilet bowl cleaner in Tokyo, that cherishes his routine of music, books and human connection as he finds the beautiful elements of simply living. It's a slow burn, but that might be the point.
4. Solo Leveling
I used to be big into anime but took a pause after becoming a dad. Solo Leveling got me back into the mix. Such a great story with intense action scenes, but not for the kiddos. It's about a young man named Sung Jin-woo in a world of magic and monsters, who seemingly cracked the code to becoming the best "hunter" in the modern world, by leveling up his skills just like a real-life video game. The IP is originally a novel from Korea, but adapted into an anime series by a Japanese studio. A must-see for any anime fan.
5. The Life Algorithm
Just like how we curate our social feeds, be sure to curate your actual life feed. Surround yourself with interesting people aligned with your values, create moments and experiences that give you the real-life dopamine, off the screen.
6. Seoul, Korea
One thing that Seoul truly understands is their "offline" retail and communities. You will not only get a white-glove shopping experience, but a memorable visit as their retail doors and cafes are just as stunning as their products. The best part, as a tourist, you get a tax refund with your purchase + passport, take advantage of that!
(Top Photo) Gentle Monster, get some shades or glasses
Tamburins, get some fragrances for yourself, friends or fam.
Olive Young, Korea is known for their top-notch skincare product
Onion, salt bread is to Korea as croissant is to France. Snag one at this cool cafe.

P.S. from Rambull ā My kids love to look at planes. I recently realized, and likely very late to the party, that the app Flightradar24 lets you track planes directly overhead. I now find myself in rabbit holes of checking the flights all over the state to see where they came from and where they are headed.
