With all due respect, whoever came up with the name “Dry Needling” probably didn’t attend any branding classes. Same with originator of “Nutritional Yeast” and “Activated Charcoal”.
Dry needling has never appealed to me. I don’t love needles and I’ve never done acupuncture.
Not the case with my wife. She is a huge believer in dry needling, which she uses for her back pain. I recently have been having issues with my hip flexor and decided to give it a try. I was shocked at how well it worked and how little pain I felt (mainly just a muscle twitch). I’ve now convinced myself its not only going to relieve my pain but also help my golf game…

1. Passalaqua in Lake Como
Passalaqua was recently named the best hotel in the world. I’ve never slept so soundly in my life! We went for a few nights right after they first opened (thanks to my friend Missy Fauser for planning the trip!). They have a red clay tennis court and the pool setup there is insane. We went in 2022 (I’m pretty sure we were their first paying customers), and I’ve been trying to find a way to go back ever since. It happened to be my birthday and I’m pretty sure every single staff member singled me out to say “Happy Birthday!” They also served me cake at breakfast – heaven on earth, pretty much!
2. Rothy’s Mary Janes Shoe
I would be remiss not to mention Rothy’s in this, a brand I’ve been dedicated to building over the past nine years. I started working there in 2015 when we were a small team of five, our two founders included and had only two footwear silhouettes. The team is now 150+ and our product offering is ROBUST. In the women’s shoe category, the Mary Jane is the clear “cool girl” favorite (and the mini MJ for little girls is the cutest thing ever). The Casual Clog is also a top seller. It’s cozy and comforting, like a subtler Birkenstock. By the way, don’t sleep on the men’s! I have three brothers, all with very different styles, and every single one of them wears Rothy’s on repeat. My favorites are the RS01 Sneaker and the Ravello Loafer.
A few brands on my wish list lately…
With Nothing Underneath — In the work-wear category, they have great button-down shirts. I just bought the chocolate brown stripe. It’s perfect for work or play – the shirts can swing either way!
Rixo — I’ve been loving Rixo for holiday dressing. They make elegant vintage styles at a nice price point.
The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective — I’ve also been really into pre-loved fashion retailers like The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective lately. I live right by The Real Real on Melrose in LA and love to pop in to see what’s there. You find the better-priced items online, but the user experience is a bit of a grind. Pro tip: search TRR by “editor’s picks” or by brand if you already know what you love.
Gem.app — This also an amazing tool (think: search engine for pre-loved fashion sites) so I’ve been using that a lot too. Especially helpful if you’re looking for a specific product.
ROZ Hair — In the hair care arena, ROZ Hair is a personal favorite. Their styling and treatment oils feel so luxe and leave your hair feeling shiny, hydrated, and restored. The ingredients are pristine (and non-toxic, of course), yet the product is as effective as can be. Their founder, Mara, is a celebrity hair stylist in LA and has poured her heart and soul into creating this product line. (If relevant, they gave me a code so LACEY15 gets you 15% off :))
Emi Jay, Big Effing Clip — Cherry Kiss is my current favorite.
Loftie Alarm Clock & Lamp set — Productivity-wise, I love my Loftie Alarm Clock & Lamp set. I bought the clock and lamp set ahead of my daughter Elsie’s arrival last December. In an effort to move my phone out of our bedroom, I wanted an alarm clock and lamp system that could wake me up smoothly. I have to say, it has worked as promised! Now that Elsie is almost a year, she loves to play with the lamp settings (the red setting always makes her laugh!).
3. Unroll.me
Unroll.me has been a game-changer in helping me keep my email inbox tidy. It lets you easily unsubscribe from marketing or junk emails and allows you to “roll up” the non-essentials you still want to read but on your own time. Removing clutter in all areas of life - email inbox included - is something I’m focused on lately! The exercise goes hand-in-hand with culling your closet and reorganizing your kitchen.
4. Older & Weiser by Lisa von Weiss
I am all in on Substack these days! Every time I go to open Instagram, I’ve been training myself to open Substack instead. I am absolutely learning more as a result (and dare I say feeling happier?!). Aside from Rambull (of course), a few of my favorite Substacks are below! It’s a mixed bag across fashion, marketing, and wellness/nutrition.
Older & Weiser by Lisa von Weiss — Lisa writes an incredible fashion styling newsletter based on principles of well-being! She is a holistic personal stylist who takes a wonderful approach to fashion and getting dressed. She emphasizes the importance of fashion as a “powerful tool of personal expression” and her audience can best be described as “ambitious people who want to reach their highest potential and celebrate life looking and feeling fabulous.” As a new mom, I’ve found myself in a bit of a rut when getting dressed, so I hired Lisa to help me hone in on my personal style. Working with her has been a dream so far, but her Substack is a great place to start!
Additional Favorites:
Link in Bio by Rachel Karten — This one is marketing-specific but a great read if you work at a brand (or agency!) running organic social. Rachel shares social media trends, best-in-class examples from brands, what-not-to-do, etc… She also has a job board with opportunities or freelancers looking for work.
After School by Casey Lewis — This one is all about trends in youth culture. I read this to stay current in my job and understand what’s working with the Gen Z and Gen Alpha set. I’m a paid subscriber which means I get the weekend edition - very long, incredibly thorough, and I learn something new and interesting every time. (It was through Casey Lewis’s After School that I discovered EmiJay hair clips… which have not left my head since!).
Sam’s 7 — Sam is the one who introduced me to Rambull! Beyond being one of my all-time favorite people, her newsletter is the perfect, snackable little treat with creative finds across fashion, art, travel, food—you name it. Sam’s taste is unparalleled, and her point of view is something I always appreciate!
The Perfect — Started by three friends who wanted to bring their “group chat” to the world, The Perfect is a monthly newsletter sharing “truly special finds” with readers. Alexa Brazilian(formerly T Magazine) and Aaron Millheiser (who ran collaborations at J Crew for years) have some of the best, most discerning taste of any people I know! I devour every issue and almost always order something! Whether it’s a cocktail recipe, the perfect sweater, or Parchment Baking Sheets, there’s always something unique and intriguing in here.
Mia Rigden Nutrition — I discovered Mia’s Substack while on maternity leave and instantly fell in love. She sends a Weekly Meal Prep email with easy recipes (five to be exact!), a grocery list for what you’ll need, along with a dose of nutrition knowledge. I am totally aligned with her approach and have discovered many hacks to make cooking for the week easier (like slow cooker pulled chicken!). She also lives here in LA, with two kids (including a daughter close to Elsie’s age!). We had a fun meeting over the summer, during which we both had to pause to breast feed… It was funny/refreshing!
5. King Richard
Full disclosure, my husband Tim produced this movie, so it has a special place in my heart. Regardless, I find the Williams family story so inspiring, and I cry every time I watch it. It was also filmed during Covid, which added an insane layer of complexity, making the outcome all the more impressive.
6. Dr. Nigma’s Super Vitamin C Cocktail
With winter in full force, this is my first line of defense to staying healthy. It’s a liposomal form of Vitamin C, which means it’s bioavailable (easier for your body to absorb). From staving off colds and flu to diminishing signs of aging, Dr. Nigma’s Vitamin C supplement is essential to my wellness regimen!
A second well-being recommendation is SWW Alkalize! I discovered Alkalize earlier this year (thanks to Marlien Rentmeester) and wow, I can’t live without it. Renowned nutritionist Sarah Wragge makes a greens powder packaged in a nice little saché so they’re easy to travel with. Essentially, everything “fun” that we eat or drink is acidic (coffee, wine) so it’s important to start your day in an alkaline state. Have this before coffee and you’ll feel infinitely better…
Frozen espresso and whipped cream at the aforementioned Passalaqua. Definitely a vice!
Vice. Caffeine in all forms. Coffee (drip, cappuccino, espresso, latte), matcha, chocolate, you name it. I could also say wine or tequila/mezcal (specifically margs) here but I’m REALLY trying to curb any alcohol intake based on what we know about it now… Unpopular opinion, I know. (I would also emphasize the word ‘trying’ here).
Bonus: Dyson Hair Dryer
My dad has historically been impossible to gift, so this one really stands out. I gave him a Dyson hair dryer last Christmas, and he texts me about it almost weekly to remind me how much he loves it. If you know my dad, this is funny because he doesn’t have a lot of hair… Nevertheless, it’s “powerful, quiet, and sleek” — everything your dad might need in a hair dryer! :)

P.S. from Rambull — I’m over stainless steel mugs. However, I’m going to recommend a stainless steel cup from Pirani. This is a mission-based, Asheville NC based company that makes excellent drinkware similar to a solo cup. I find myself using these constantly for water, coffee, and tea. They are also great as a promotional and marketing tool for your brand.

So many interesting things I don't even know where to start! Unroll.me, the dry needling thing, the alkaline topic (I worked in an intermittent fasting app, and the whole acidic vs. alkaline debate was definitely a huge discussion)... really great stuff!
