Hannah’s Recommendations
Written in her own words…
Well-Being
Gua Sha: Stop what you're doing right now and buy yourself a gua sha. It is the best $5.99 you'll ever spend. I gua sha my face every morning. It's a noun, it's a verb, it's a lifestyle. It has become a daily ritual for me since apparently I can’t quit drinking martinis and eating salty foods. It's essentially a lymphatic drainage technique to get rid of facial puffiness, boost blood flow, and increase circulation. Over time, I think it actually chisels the face. It's definitely the thing I grab for first after a night out on the town!
Watch
Daisy Jones and The Six: This was one of my favorite books, TV Shows, and soundtracks of the Winter/ Spring. Talk about a triple threat! Now, if a show is based off a book, I usually watch the show and THEN read the book. Or I watch the show and pretend I will read the book later and never do. This time around I switched up my strategy. I read the book first (highly recommend doing it that way) and then binged the TV show (which is on Amazon Prime) and then played the soundtrack on loop. If you loved movies like "Almost Famous" and "A Star is Born," this one's for you.
Gift
I love a gift that you don't even realize you need, but that elevates your home. I have some friends with impeccable taste that have single handedly made me a classier broad because of the gifts they've given me over the years.
Pot Pourri from Santa Maria Novella — Most recently, my friend Micaela got me a hostess gift of Pot Pourri from a company called Santa Maria Novella. It smells divine and comes in a beautiful terracotta jar that looks wonderful on a coffee table or in a bathroom. I barely knew how to spell Pot Pourri before receiving this gift, so we are living and growing and adulting with every breath we take!
Prints from NY artist Pauline de Roussy de Sales — I found out about another amazing gift via my friend Elizabeth, who discovered these beautiful prints from a local artist in New York, Pauline de Roussy de Sales. I immediately purchased a print and have bought a few for friends and family since. My favorite print of hers right now is "Martinis with a side of lunch," they're so classic and whimsical!
Music
Willie Lock — If you haven't listened to Willie Lock on Spotify, definitely give him a listen and follow him on Instagram and TikTok @WillieLock. He single handedly made me like country music after a lifetime of fighting it. And as a girl raised in Miami, Florida listening to PitBull and Ricky Martin, I never thought liking country music would be possible. But alas, here we are. "My brother" is my favorite song of his right now! And for anyone in the tri-state area, Willie Lock will be playing at Barefoot Country Music Festival in June alongside Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Jon Pardi, and Kid Rock. It's gonna be a party.
Grab tickets here: https://barefootcountrymusicfest.com/
And for some rapid fire recs, here are a few songs that I've recently discovered (or rediscovered) that I've been playing on loop:For a windows down, zen, car moment: "Sweet Summer" by DRAMA
For a girl anthem: "Grapefruit" by Tove Lo
For an indie, toe tapper, that you won't be able to get out of your head: "Brazil" by Declan McKenna
For some R&B, stank face, love making music: "Waiting - Demo" by Amber Mark
For a niche, country jam: "Love You a Little Bit" by Tanner Adell
For an oldie but a goodie, 90s jam: "All For You" by Sister Hazel
Turn it up loud and enjoy!
Travel
Mezzatorre Hotel and Thermal Spa — Last summer, I was traveling to Europe for a friend's wedding and my group of friends decided to add on some travel ahead of the festivities. One person in the group grew up going to an island in Italy called Ischia and told us about this incredible hotel called Mezzatorre. I had never heard of Ischia before, but hey, I am easily convinced.
We all booked our tickets and decided to splurge to stay at Mezzatorre Hotel and Thermal Spa right on the Tyrrhenian Sea. The resort is, spoiler alert, known for its thermal spas. So of course we had to see what they were all about. We did a hot and cold plunge bath one day and afterwards, I swear I was in the clouds. I have never felt that good in my entire life. The views are stunning, the hotel is so unique, the food and drink is delicious- we're talking burrata the size of your head and you'll learn to order Aperol Spritzs by the two's. Hope you can put this on your bucket list some time soon! It's really special.
Personal Plug
Bodega Baby — I recently wrote and published a children's book. It’s called Bodega Baby and it’s my love letter to New York City, my home. I was inspired to write this as an aunt of four and a New Yorker of nearly a decade.
It’s a lighthearted tale centered around the loyal nucleus of every NYC neighborhood: the bodega. It’s cute and entertaining while showing the importance of hard work, perseverance and community - and how those values can be passed down from generation to generation.
You can follow Bodega Baby’s journey @bodegababybooks on Instagram. And all books can be purchased at our website at www.bodegababybooks.com. Hope you love it!
