Gabe’s Recommendations
Written in her own words…
Podcast Recommendations
NPR’s Up First & Tim Ferris Show
I start with NPR’s UpFirst in the morning, then the Tim Ferris Show. I recently revisited an episode that Tim did with Brené Brown called “Striving versus Self-Acceptance, Saving Marriages, and More.” Sounds a lot heavier than it is, but they talk about communication and parenting within the world of working parents and the realities that come with it, in a positive and affirming way.
Book Recommendation
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse
A children’s book I have been reading regularly to our 2 yr old since he was born. Every line in the book seems to be appropriate for both his age and mine. The words are accompanied by lovely illustrations.
Brand and Product Recommendations
It has been a long, cold and rainy winter in SF and her knits are cozy enough to wear all day at work and later at home, while still feeling put together. Beanie + Cecil in Wilmington carries her pieces.
Giant water cup with a straw that my sister sent me.
Lan Jaennicke on Sacramento Street in SF.
She is just across the street from my shop and it is very tempting every time I walk by. The design of the shop is stunning and so are the clothes. Her cashmere coats are timeless and so beautifully made.
Wellness Recommendation
I’m an easy target for an Instagram Ad, so I am currently trying out the Sakara vitamins. Stay tuned…
I am a nut over gut health (probiotics) and love skin care too (BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE).
What to Watch Recommendations
TV: Shrinking on Apple TV with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford.
Go to Movie: The Greatest Showman or Finding Neverland.
Food and Drink Recommendations
Wines from Bandol, France
Specifically, Domine Tempier Rose and Chateau de Pibarnon. My husband is the real wine expert. I mainly just pay attention when we find specific bottles we both like.
SF Restaurants:
Nopa is my forever favorite. We like to sit at the end of the bar and watch the kitchen crank out all the beautiful dishes.
Handroll Project in the Mission. Casual sushi in a small restaurant. The atmosphere is laid back and their food is delicious.
Robin in Hayes Valley. Incredible omakase experience. Lovely interiors and dishes.
Mariposa at the Ferry Building. 100% gluten free and 100% delicious.
Music Recommendation
I’m stuck on Tift Merrritt’s album “Another Country”.
Travel Recommendation
Last summer we took Rip, our now 2yr old, on a big trip to Italy and London. The Amalfi coast was not quite as kid-friendly but still very much worth it. London was super easy and very family-oriented.
Tips for big travel with a baby... Book an Airbnb. Rent a crib and high chair. Always bring a car seat in your carry-on! You don’t want that one to go missing on connections. Find a babysitting service that has a list of verified sitters.
Our Airbnb was right off of Hyde Park and the area is super walkable. It was simple to find restaurants and coffee shops around the corner. There are a lot of activities in Hyde Park that are easy for any age.
Paris. I just did a trip with my mom, sister and sister in law in January. We stayed at the Faubourg Pavillon in Saint Germaine. I love this hotel. Our favorite food stop was Freddy’s, a laid back wine bar with tapas.
Personal Plug
We have always done custom work using customer’s laces as well as resetting stones, but we are starting to work more with charms and allowing people to customize those. Moving forward, we will have them at certain shows and people will be able to choose their shape, chain length, stones, layout….really anything they desire.
Additionally, I just did our big buying trip for the year and have a lot of new estate we will be launching soon on the website.
Thank you, Gabe!
