Why Bo
is an old friend. Some of my earliest and best childhood memories are with Bo. He was (is?) the kid that was seemingly good at everything. He has started an impressive company, Current Sets, that Iโm excited to see grow.Boโs Socials: Instagram & Linkedin
Boโs Self-Description
Always looking for a new outdoor adventure and a tinkerer curious about how things come together and work (companies, teams, buildings, music ...)

๐ฅ Digital Tools: Canva + Figma
For me before I started using Canva and Figma, Photoshop seemed daunting and my visual editing typically was handled in Paint. Canva and Figma have been easy to pick up and allowed me to do marketing on the side as an early stage company.
I'm still doing everything I need to do using the free version which is all web based and quick to pick up and they have templates that make getting started very easy.
Need business cards -> go to Canva, grab a template and mock up a design and for $15 you'll get 50 within a week. New linkedin post -> there's a template for that. Figma we use to design and test our software platform before coding it and I also create marketing visuals. If anyone wants to do a video call I'd be happy to show you how I use both (and some others I didn't include).
๐ช Well Being: Guitar ๐ธ
Near the beginning of the pandemic I bought an Xbox and a guitar and my plan was for one of them to "win" while spending more time inside.
Around the same time I'd read The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg and the concept of Cue -> Routine -> Reward stuck with me as a way to break down and change habits.
I ended up finding some habits or "routines" that I wanted to change, figured out the Cue at the root of those habits and replaced some habits with playing guitar which has been rewarding and improved my overall well-being because I've never considered myself very musical and it's a great de-stresser. The guitar won!!
๐ด Restaurant: Seรฑor Sisig
This is my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area. It's grown from a food truck to a chain since I started going. I've only ever ordered the California Burrito (french fries inside) which I highly recommend and they have a location at the Ferry Building now. Check it out!
๐ Gift: Rains Weekend Bag
Someone surprised me with this Rains weekend bag and I've been a huge fan. It's waterproof, seems very durable, and simple. Since getting it a month ago I've already used it multiple times and been impressed.
๐ Travel: Yosemite
If you haven't been to Yosemite that is my #1 recommendation. My wife and I have been over 12 times in the past 6 years. There's a range of places you can stay in Yosemite Valley and plenty of day hikes. If you're into backpacking we have a campsite we go back to every year near the peak of Clouds Rest that looks out on Half Dome and most of the park. Permits are tricky, but worth entering the lottery. Happy to talk to anyone who wants to learn more!
๐ Clothing: Terrebonne Patagonia joggers
My athleisure pants of choice have been these Terrebonne Patagonia joggers. I don't jog in them, I just wear them all the time and now have 2 pairs.
๐ Personal Plug: Current Sets
I'm a little over two years into starting a business, Current Sets. After working as a nuclear design engineer, in virtual reality training for NFL teams, and on modular construction design control I brought ideas and co-workers from those experiences together to perform design reviews and improve design quality in a faster way.
Our "better mousetrap" is the platform we've built which we use to review designs before starting construction which has allowed us to deliver competitively priced reviews and help builders deliver more surprise free construction projects.
We've reviewed ~175 projects in the past 2 years and are always excited to meet new people developing new projects! Feel free to email me if you want to connect and learn more: bo@currentsets.com
๐ฏ Final Hits
Recent Passion: I never thought I would go to yoga, but there are free classes with our climbing gym membership and I've now being going for about a year. There's something about having an instructor that can't be replicated through streaming and I'm feeling more flexible and amazing because of it!
Ideal Saturday: An ideal Saturday for me starts with no alarm clock. It's not that I sleep in late, but catching up on sleep and going to bed knowing it's not going to go off is my favorite start to the weekend. Then I'd love to pick up a Berkley Bowl burrito to eat on the go while hiking, kayaking, skiing, or biking with my wife and some friends. After that I'd settle in and watch UNC beat Duke in the NCAA tournament. I think I'm describing Saturday April 2nd, 2022. ;)
Hidden Gem: Probably not quite a hidden gem, but whenever I'm in Charlotte I have to go to Viva Chicken and get the Chicken Stuffed Avocado.
Brand: My favorite brands typically place a high emphasis on quality and durability. Brands like Patagonia, Le Creuset cast iron skillets, Epicurean cutting boards, or Wusthof knives. For things I use everyday I really like having something that's reliable, high quality, and will last.
Thank you Bo!
Local Rambull Guides: Oakland
Iโd like to periodically compile local city recommendations. My plan is to use the city where the person I am profiling lives (e.g. Oakland this week) as the inspiration for the guide.

Folks from Oakland or the Bay Area, let me know what you think of these recommendations?
