Kwame’s Self-Description:
“Extremely curious person, who likes to do what I can to help folks reach their full potential.”
Why I wanted to profile Kwame:
You never forget the star football player when you were a freshman in high school. Much harder for you to forget when you are a barely 5-foot, very pudgy freshman looking up at Kwame who looks like a Greek statue. Kwame is one of the more humble, intellectual, and interesting guys around. He also has a very strong faith. I had a great time catching up with him recently and I’m excited for folks to learn more about one of the most revered Woodberry Forest Tigers of all time.
S/O to Myles W. and Henry D. for the recommendation to reach out to Kwame

Creative Grounds Sidama Coffee
Creative Grounds' Sidama coffee is the best! Creative Grounds is a coffee shop owned by a fantastic couple, Asmara Sium and Kenn Blagburn. They rotate incredible art through their space and host a wide range of events. They have done a fantastic job building a community space in their neighborhood. I get a bag of coffee beans from them every two weeks!

Goodreads is a fantastic app because I can track how much I'm reading and get a ton of book recommendations.
“As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen is a book I keep coming back to. It's a quick, inspiring read that challenges me to master my thoughts.

“Tech-Free” Walks and/or Drives
Whenever I get in the car I immediately go to Spotify to play music. It does not matter if it is a 3-minute drive or 30, I’m always picking out music to listen to. Same approach for walks.
Recently, I saw a recommendation from Sahil Bloom on Twitter (great follow). He recommends Tech-Free walks. What does that mean? It means:
No phones
No music
No podcast
The result? More peace of mind, clarity, and creativity. Admittedly, it is not something I do regularly but mixing in at least one tech-free walk per week is a game-changer. Also, highly recommend leaving your phone at home when going on a walk with your partner 😉.
The Lion King
Parents. Grandparents. Aunts, Uncles, hopefully, I’m giving you a new weapon for your arsenal against an upset baby. Our son loves the Lion King soundtrack. Whenever he hears the start of Hakuna Mata, he almost immediately stops crying. Truly a wonderful phrase.
Oh, and Sophie the giraffe. This toy has been a savior on summer road trips.
Parents, what else do you recommend?
🎤 “Take My Word For It” Podcast
We had a true ramble, an hour and twenty-seven minutes worth to be exact 😮. And we could have kept going. MacGreagor works for Bissell Brothers Brewing Company in Portland Maine and shared his top 3 breweries in the U.S. I must now go to Russian River Brewing. We also talked about how he picks beer to order at a local brewery. One of the many ‘mind-blown’ moments was when he shared details about the black market for beer.
Oh, and we also taste-tested 4 of his favorite beers. Aecht Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier was my favorite. A smoky 4.3% abv beer that was extremely refreshing. You can get it at Total Wine (a sneaky great place to buy beer).
If you know someone very passionate about a specific topic, let me know! That was a ton of fun and I learned so much.
I want to hear from you.
What are your favorite family traditions? I want to highlight some of the more interesting ones out there.
In my family, whenever it was your birthday you got to pick a restaurant for dinner. Kabuto’s hibachi anyone? The flaming onion choo-choo train? So good.
My wife’s family has a “You Are Special” plate you get to eat out of on your birthday. The way that plate is revered you would think it was made out of gold. For ‘my’ family, I started one during Christmas where we make Grinch popcorn and watch the cartoon Grinch on even years and Jim Carey Grinch on odd years.
