📍 Charlotte, NC
Currently: Author | Speaker | Coach
Kathy’s Self-Description:
“Lifelong learner who has reinvented my career about eight times: copywriter, art director, graphic designer, nonprofit director, fundraiser, writer, speaker, coach.”
Why I wanted to profile Kathy:
So many reasons backed up by several friends and family recommending her for a Rambull profile. I could start with her books, faith journey, or her incredible impact on homelessness and mental health in my hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. She helped build Charlotte’s first permanent supportive housing, Moore Place. Moore Place opened in 2012 to house the chronically homeless men and women directly from street to home. I’m also very interested in her latest work involving workshops and retreats, women | faith & story. A very interesting, thoughtful, and impactful person and I’m excited for you to get her favorite recommendations!

Movie: The Way
The Way--this one goes back a bit (2010) but when I saw it I could not believe I had never heard of this famous trip "The Camino de Santiago" across Spain. It inspired me to walk a section of it with 14 women--including Rob's mom and aunt! The movie is a bit quirky but I love how it captured the spirit of "The Way" and especially love the tag line--You don't choose a life. You live one.

Cloudrock Waterproof Hiking Boots by OnCloud
Going a bit on theme here I guess with my new favorite hiking boots Cloudrock Waterproof by OnCloud. Lots of people wear the tennis shoes but not as many know they have hiking boots. My daughter, Maddie, recommended them and I might not ever wear another brand. I ordered them right before going to hike for a week in Patagonia and the boots were delayed so I never got to break them in. Didn't matter---walked for 8 days straight with no blisters and complete comfort.

Tiny Beans--private photo sharing app. My oldest daughter, Lauren, had our first grandchild in February and they live in Austin so I don't get to see them all the time. But Lauren uploads photos and videos daily so I feel like I see him all the time. You can post comments and messages but since it is private, only friends and family see.

Author: Cleo Wade
Just discovered Cleo Wade and her great books Heart Talk and Where to Begin. She is part poet and part artist so the books are both text and illustrations full of wisdom. She writes about Where to Begin " The words in this book are what stop me from walking away from the problems of the world during tough times. They also help me stay connected to hope during difficult moments and remind me that even on the days that feel the most daunting, I still have the power to show up and do something, somewhere, in some way." Yep we need more Cleo Wades!
🥉 Honorable Mention
Kelly Corrigan Wonder’s Podcast and “Thanks for Being Here” Segment
Podcast by Kelly Corrigan Wonders especially her new "Thanks for Being Here" segment. Kelly always interviews interesting people and explores great ideas but her new Sunday Segment is about everyday people. Those friends and family we loved and lost. People write about someone they loved who died and Kelly reads the essays in tribute to honor their memory. Amazing. A great reminder that you don't have to be famous to have had a lasting impact on this world.
I’ve added this to the Rambull playlist collection of ‘Best Podcast Episodes’. Check it out here on spotify. -Rob

The Concept of “One Big Thing”
One Big Thing (OBT) is a concept I learned from Shaan Puri. Each day you try to identify the “one big thing” that is achievable and can have the highest impact. As some one who loves a ‘to-do’ list, I put my one big thing at the top. With this method, I am focused on quality over quantity - it is no longer about the number of things I can check off my list. This should be something you could feasibly accomplish in one day and because it has high impact, it should leave you with the good feeling that you have been productive.
Your OBT could be something as simple as cleaning up a messy bedroom or finishing your weekly newsletter copy 😉.
I love this google chrome plug-in for OBT. In the morning when you open your browser, you put in your OBT. Then, every time you open a new browser your OBT pops up as a reminder. You can also mark it as complete.
I want to hear from you. You can reply directly to this email to:
