Real people, authentic recommendations.
June 8th, 2022 | RAMBULL | Claire Virga
Rambull Newsletter - I talk to interesting people and ask them for their favorite recommendations. A great way to learn about new people and to discover new products, shows, apps, podcasts, and more.
Father’s Day is less than two weeks away. Similar to Mother’s Day, don’t worry - I’ve got you covered with free ideas to take care of Dad as well as gift ideas.
Read the Father’s Day Guide here.
My Dad is getting Oofos. Stuart’s recommendation sold me, and let me tell you….these things are like walking on clouds. If you thought Hokas were hideous comfortable, these are next level. My wife and I have already gotten in two fights about how I’m not allowed to wear them outside of the house.
Father’s Day also falls on Juneteenth, an important federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. I encourage you to learn more about this holiday.
Let’s dive in…

Claire’s Self-Description:
“New mom still learning how to juggle my career, my family, my friends and ‘me time.’ The relationships in my life mean everything to me and are my number one priority.”
Why I wanted to profile Claire:
My older sister Anna, highly recommended Claire. She is one of Anna’s long time best friends from the high school. While I’m dubious of her claim that Bojangles doesn’t hold a candle to Chick-Fil-A*, I’ve been excited to learn more about her work as a nutrition specialist through this profile. Like many others I’ve been swept up by the trend of ‘health consciousness’ and want to apply those learnings both personally and professionally.
*Although this Instagram reel of a Chick-fil-a crunchwrap looks incredible (s/o Richard S.)…if 10 people reply to this and dare me to make this, I’ll film my attempt and post it next week.

Peaky Blinders
This is nothing new but if you have not watched Peaky Blinders yet, you are missing out! I watched 5 seasons in an embarrassingly short amount of time while I was on my maternity leave. This is just a really well written and acted show that my husband loves as much as I do, which is a rare find for us since I'm usually more of a Real Housewives type of gal..
🛒 Purchase
This is a huge insulated water cup with a handle and a straw. It fits about a liter of water so I only have to fill it up ~2-3x a day to ensure I'm getting enough water. I feel so much better when I'm hydrated and this has helped me immensely. Oh, and it also fits perfectly in a car cupholder.
+1. My wife has this exact product and also highly recommends it. -RB

I know this is very 2020 but I've been a big fan of the Peloton app for a long time now. I especially love the running classes and find them super motivating. I don't have a lot of time to exercise most days so I also enjoy their shorter strength classes.
Peleton running classes on the app are highly underrated. Who else is Team Alex Toussaint? This ain’t daycare. -RB

Waking Up 45 Minutes Before My Son Wakes Up
I’m not a morning person and could sleep forever if able so this was a really hard change to make but has dramatically changed my mood in the morning. This extra 45 minutes allows me to ease into my day and get a few things done for myself before he wakes up.

Recently, I've been enjoying the "How'd She Do That" podcast. This podcast interviews a new female entrepreneur each episode about how they got their business off the ground and achieved success.
🥉 Honorable Mention
Solid Starts | App
The Solid Starts app is a great app for parents who are starting solids with their little ones and using a baby led weaning approach. You can look up any food and find a visual of how best to prepare and serve that food to your baby in a safe and appropriate way. Its an awesome resource.

My Rambull - what I’ve been recently rambling about…...
This app is addicting. I came across it through a co-worker who said they ran out of things in their house to scan and wanted to go to their neighbors house to scan more.
I love that it provides recommendations for similar products that are better for you. See below for my example - ironically, we love Peri Peri sauce from TJ’s so this was pretty cool to see.
Road Trip Snacks - you shared, I collected, and provided back:
Most Controversial: Oh Snap Pickles (Paul L). “Don’t sleep on the hot pickles. Oh snap is at most QTs. When you drive as much as I do, you sometimes need something slightly healthier than jalapeño cheddar Cheetos, this is a good option…”
The Trifecta: A Drink + Salty Snack + Candy Only for the Road (Amanda P). “My go to combo- vitamin water + white cheddar cheese its (the share size but I’m not sharing) + hot tamales. Occasional guilty pleasure slim Jim (don’t tell ebet!)”
Road Chips Fun Fact: VooDoo Chips and Route 11 Salt and Vinegar. (Janet F) “Route 11 chips are made in Virginia on Route 11 in Mt Jackson, VA. All of these chips are super good!”
Big Nut Guy: “Big nut guy. Pistachios and sunflower seeds, ice cold cheerwine (probably from QT), maybe some cheezits or goldfish for good measure.” (Richard S.)
Down the Middle: White Cheddar Popcorn and Diet Coke…in the can (Anna E.)
The Mélange: Planters Planters Peanuts, Cheetos, Chewy Sprees, Nutter Butters, Lemon-Lime Gatorade (Stuart B.)
Honorable Mentions: Gatorade in a can, if you can find it. Coke slushi. Buying lottery scratch-offs. Stopping at only Sheetz or QT’s because they have a dependable bathroom setup. Nothing worse than pulling into a random BP and the one bathroom has a sign on the door ‘out of order’ (Cam N.)
When you take the first sip of a canned Gatorade. Yep, you can buy them on Amazon.
Huge GIF guy (pronounced j-IF). The Antonio Banderas one might be my favorite.

I really want to hear from you if you can help with reader recommendations. I’ve been asked to provide these recommendations, and I’m coming up empty:
Men’s skincare products. I have dry skin so I use moisturizer each day but I’m getting old and my face could use it.
Christening gift idea. Any Godmothers / Fathers given a good one recently?
Webcam for WFH. What is your setup? Most of us are full-time remote and we gotta look good.
Dropping the Paci. How can I get my 2 year old to drop it? (A Dad ask!)
